General Sports Skate Fitting Process Purpose: Our goal is to provide the best skate fitting experience while always remaining within the customer's budget. Modern skates are designed to fit the average foot, but many players have unusual feet and find skating uncomfortable. Instead of selling the most expensive skate, we build a comprehensive solution that includes the right skate and the customization services needed to maximize comfort and performance. 1. Establish the Budget Discuss the customer's total budget, playing level, skating frequency, current skates, likes/dislikes, and any fit or pain issues. The budget should include both the skate and any recommended services. 2. Explain Our Philosophy Educate the customer that no skate fits everyone perfectly out of the box. Customization is part of the fitting process, not an upsell. The objective is to find the best platform for their feet. 3. Select the Skate Choose the skate that best matches the player's foot shape, skill level, and budget while leaving room for necessary customization. Do not assume the highest-priced skate is the best choice. 4. Evaluate the Fit Check length, width, heel lock, forefoot volume, instep pressure, ankle wrap, and overall alignment. Have the customer stand and simulate skating movements to identify pressure points or fit issues. 5. Recommend Customization Recommend only the services that improve the customer's fit and performance, such as heat molding, profiling, footbeds, punching, stretching, blade alignment, or tongue adjustments. Every recommendation solves a specific problem. 6. Final Fit & Education Verify fit, explain the customization performed, review break-in expectations, skate care, sharpening, and encourage the customer to return for adjustments if needed.
